"Do I have too?" Toph complained.

"I am asking you to stay put and be a good girl Toph" Mr. Bei Fong told his daughter while getting out of the carriage.

"Hmph" was her answer.

They walked in the big palace in the Earth Kingdom. It was a little party only for those in the 'high class' society.

Zuko walked in with his uncle all eyes laid on the Fire Lord.

"Why did I come again?" Zuko asked his uncle.

"Because nephew, you are the Fire Lord"

"Aang is the Avatar and I don't see him here" Zuko complained.

"Hello young Fire Lord" this one big old guy came and said to Zuko.

"Bumi good to see you" Iroh replied for Zuko who was bored out of his mind.

"Hello Iroh, come over here the White Lotus was waiting to speak to you about some matters" Bumi said and with that Iroh left bored Zuko all alone.

Toph managed to slip away from her parents and since they were in the Earth Kingdom she could feel everything on the floor. She walked around the place until she found a very interesting shuffling of feet that were very familiar to her. She walked to the presence and punched it hard on the arm. Or at least she thought it was the arm.

"Ouch, hey watch….." The voice paused.

"Hey there Sparky"

"Hey Toph, how are you?" Zuko replied

"Bored, you?"

"Bored, wanna walk around?" he asked.

"Please and thank you" she said grabbing his arm.

"Lady Bei Fong" someone called behind her.

"You are not supposed to be wondering alone" a servant of her fathers who was supposed to be watching her said.

"I'm pretty sure she is very safe with me" Zuko replied and Toph smiled.

"I understand Fire Lord, but Mr. Bei Fong wants her nearby"

"How about this? I'll walk her to Mr. Bei Fong myself and you enjoy the party" Zuko said in his demanding 'Fire Lord' voice.

Toph stiff a giggle.

"Ok Fire Lord, as you please"

Zuko nodded to the servant and took off with Toph who was about to burst into laughter.

Once out of ear shot she did.

"Oh by the spirits Sparky, why didn't I have you on the last few parties again?" she said trying to breathe.

"Well at least I'm here today" he said laughing too.

"Yes you are" Toph said blushing.

Zuko then realized what he had said and blushed too.

"You really have grown Toph" he said looking at her with a lot of attention.

"Thanks Sparky, 19 years old and now I'm going through stupid people who want to marry me because of my family's freaking well been" she said putting some her bangs behind her ears.

"Huh, that sounds like loads of fun" Zuko said laughing

"Sure it does" she said sitting down on a bench once the got outside to the backyard.

Zuko sat next to her.

"How old are you again Sparky?" she asked.

"I'm 21 going on 22 soon" he said.

"Oh, where is Death Princess?" She asked laughing.

Zuko's face went serious, but Toph couldn't really make that out.

"With her fiancé back at the Fire Nation planning her wedding"

Toph's eyes went open wide and she moved her head towards him.

"Wow Zuko, I'm so sorry about that" she said really concerned.

"Is ok" he said looking into her sightless eyes.

"So who do you like so far?" he asked chancing the subject.

"Huh?' Toph answered confused.

"Your suitors?"

"Oh gods please don't remind me"

"Why?" he asked.
"Why? Because, none of them are freaking worth it. I think even June the bounty hunter came in once"

Zuko shuddered.

"That's creepy" he said.

"It is" she said.

"No one wants to marry a blind girl, but everyone wants to marry the only heir of the Bei Fong fortune" she said, a tear tricking her and escaping her eyes.

She was about to wipe it when she felt a hot hand against her cheek wiping it. Then another hand took her face whole and brought her close to his face. His lips brushed softly against hers and she froze for a moment but Zuko didn't hesitate and step in. He kissed her and she immediately kissed him back. Their lips were soft against each other's. Her arms went around his neck and his hand went to her back.

Zuko parted the kiss.

"Have you ever thought when you are alone that maybe we could be together?"

His question froze her.

"Look, I don't know, I tried to run away from that thought so much, but I can't, you have always mesmerize me, your strength, you inner person, and now, you beauty. Toph you're beautiful."

She was about to complain when he kissed her again.

"You really think so?" she asked.

"I don't think so, I know so"

"So would you be a suitor?" she asked smiling.

"You better get ready"

"Why?" she asked.

"Because I'm going to your dad right now"

"NO" she grabbed his arms before he stood up.

He leaned to her and his face was inches from her, his breath letting her know how close they were.

"I'm the Fire Lord, he should know is not your fortune I'm after, plus, what better fortune then the beautiful, strong and hard-headed daughter they have?"

Toph smiled and kissed him.

"I never thought you would keep your promise, the one you made me after Aang beat your dad, I thought that maybe after been with Death Princess you would end up with her and well, maybe forget about me" she said.

"Forget you? Of course not, especially that time behind that one tree where we had a 'teacher's conference'" he said, a little smirk forming on his lips, and Toph felt it.

"Oh by Agni, that was just, weird"
"And your first kiss" he said smiling.

"So" she still unsure.

"I'm keeping my promise, I'm coming back for you just like I said"

With that, he pulled her with him and walked back inside.
